Enneagram
Nine Ways of Seeing
Types, Centers, Subtypes and Stances
Learn Your Type
Enneagram is Greek for "nine writings." This ancient wisdom tool lays out the nine different ways of seeing which marks the beautiful diversity of humanity. Personality is adopted early in childhood and as such, type is determined and fixed by a young age. Understanding your type will give you more understanding, compassion, and the ability to have personal growth in seeing and managing your compulsive patterns along with recognizing the unique gifts you bring to the world.

Centers
Thinking. Feeling. Doing.
One is dominant, one is supportive, and one is repressed for each type. Find out how your type takes in information from the outside world and what works (and does not work well) in the way of processing that information.

Subtypes
We all have three animalistic instincts--self-preservation, social, and sexual. These are for our good and our survival. When layered on top of our personality structure, there are three subtypes to every type, which provide additional nuance to individuals within types.

Stances
Dependent. Withdrawing. Aggressive.
Each type is part of a stance which defines our relationship with others. This stance is determined by which center of intelligence is repressed. Most Enneagram work happens in bringing up our repressed center.
